Increase Inclusivity - VOAD, Business, Government

Increase inclusivity...ensure that NGOs big and small, including neighborhood associations and churches, participate in VOAD. Then ensure that VOAD partners fully with government and business. Bring representation from all areas to the table regularly. Consistency in efforts and message, and creative utilization of all community resources, increases community resiliency.

    This must be driven by communities not government. You cannot force a chruch or non porfit to participate, they must want to.

    This can certainly be driven by government and I am proud to say often is in our community. Meeting with churches and non profits, inviting them to participate in drills, encouraging them to participate in NIMS training or become a neighborhood distribution site... these entities are usually excited to partner and don't often know how, or where they fit in. Government can open the door and benefit from increased community knowledge and resources... and NGOs can open the door as well. National initiatives could encourage these local inclusive partnerships and model having a seat at the table and invitations for to these groups.
