General Preparedness

Medication preparedness option- Medicare and Medicaid

allow individuals in Medicare plans and Medicaid to obtain a 30 day supply of needed medications for preparedness purposes - at least once an emergency declaration has been issued. This will alleviate the medical needs that invariably occur in the first day/week(s) after a disaster has occured. This would leeson the negative health & financial impacts that "early refill" penalties impose on those who are trying to be prepared. The burden placed upon citizens who are using personal repsonsibilty - but being hampered by insurance program policies is silly at best. This would lesson the need to turn to government and voluntary communities to assis them after the fact.

The simple act would assit those whose shelter in place or in congregate shelter facilites to care for themselves adequately, let alone need ONA funds
